Zanzibar Petroleum Development Company (ZPDC) is Zanzibar’s National Oil and Gas Company responsible for supporting the development of the petroleum sector and representing the interests of the Government of Zanzibar in petroleum activities, particularly in the upstream sector.
ZPDC was established under Section 32 of the Zanzibar Oil and Gas Act No. 6 of 2016. The Company was registered on 9 February 2018 and commenced its operations in June 2018.
ZPDC primarily participates in upstream petroleum activities, including exploration, petroleum data management, resource development and participation in petroleum projects on behalf of the Government of Zanzibar.
